It is valid up to 20 years from the issuance date. To obtain a permanent driving licence in India, you must pass not only the written test but also the driving test in India. 

  1. International Driving licence

People who are eager to drive vehicles in foreign countries are provided with international Driving Licences. It is valid for up to one year and cannot be renewed further. In short terms, it is a certificate that emphasises that you have all the required knowledge for driving on foreign roads.

  1. Commercial Driving Licence 

It is yet one of the Driving licence types inIndia. People who want to drive HMVs or Heavy Motor Vehicles are required to have a commercial driving licence for transporting not only passengers but also goods. Here, the eligibility criteria for obtaining this licence are different from the rest of the driving licence. Here, it is mandatory that you have passed at least 8th standard and should be 18 years of age at least ( however, the minimum age criteria in some states is 22 as well). Not just that, but you must also be trained at either a government school or a school that has a tie-up with the respective state government.
