Items to Keep In Your Car for Emergency

As a first-time car owner, it is but natural for you to feel elated. But as a proud owner of a car, you need to keep some very important points in mind. There are certain documentation and paperwork that needs to be done. While paying attention to all these, one may miss out on a vehicle emergency kit, one of the most important things to have in your car. In this blog, we will guide you with how to build an emergency car kit.

Here are some emergency essentials for a car that you must keep in your vehicle:

  • Tool kit Having minimal tools in your roadside emergency kit can save you during an emergency. Especially, when the repair shop is far away and you face a sudden breakdown. Your toolkit should essentially contain screwdrivers, tire gauge, pliers, brake fluid, oil, duct tape, pocket knife and for very cold climate; an antifreeze.

  • Spare Tyre You must have a spare tyre in your car that prepares you for untimely punctures/flat tires. But having a spare tyre is not just enough. You must also learn to install it. However, remember to get it repaired when you use the spare one. Along with it, you will require some tools like a wrench, jack and pipe to replace the flat tyre with the spare tyre.

  • First-aid kit A first-aid kit is a must-have item in your car. You can buy a readymade kit or assemble your kit. If you are making it on your own remember to include band-aids, bandages of different sizes, cotton, gauze, disinfectant, antiseptic solutions, pain-relieving cream and over the counter medicines. If you can accommodate a few more things then try to store a thermometer, medicines you and your family take and a pair of scissors for cutting bandages.

  • Fire extinguisher A fire extinguisher should be available in your car at all times. It is a necessity and must be handy. Do not forget to replace it when you use one. Check on the expiry date and get it refilled on the due date. If it is risky to travel without a fire extinguisher it is even greater folly to have an expired one.

  • Water Bottles Having water bottles in your car emergency kit checklist will not only quench your thirst but will do more. You can use the water as a coolant for your radiator when it overheats. You can also use water for cleaning and washing purposes.

  • Cleaning cloth, paper towels and dusters Usually, people keep rags for cleaning grease and dirt. You can also keep a few pieces of cloth and paper towels, it will serve the purpose. Along with it, you can have dusters and brushes to clean hard-to-reach places like under the seats. Be careful and use only soft cloth for windshields and windows to avoid scratches.

  • Charger cables can prove to be extremely helpful when you are on a long journey or road trip. Have different kinds of cable to fit your adapter so that everyone can use it no matter what type of phone they have. You may also charge your power banks, Bluetooth earphones and other gadgets if they run out of battery.

  • Snacks A little pack of biscuit or chips should always be stored in your car. Have something that can be stored easily for many days without being opened. Do not store food items that have been opened as it may attract ants and other insects.

  • Head pillow A head pillow is a lifesaver item to keep in your pre-owned luxury car. If you are a person who likes to go on road trips then you will need it. If you feel tired from all the driving you can just pull over at a safe place and take a quick power nap. In case you are not driving then make yourself comfortable with the pillow and enjoy your journey.

  • Flashlight A flashlight will help you on different occasions when your mobile flashlight or car lights do not work. A powerful chargeable flashlight is an essential commodity to have in your premium car.

  • Umbrella Most people forget to keep an umbrella in their used luxury car and then get locked in when it rains heavily. Always keep an umbrella in your car at all seasons to avoid getting drenched.

Apart from all the above mentioned essential items, you can keep things you find important to you. If you frequently travel with your children or pets, have some soft toys in the second-hand luxury car. You can also keep a blanket, wet tissues, carry bags and pouches in your car. Your car should have these handy at all times so that you can handle all types of situations. Do keep a few emergency numbers handy, like those of ambulance, police helpline, fire station, your home number, breakdown helpline numbers of your company etc. No matter where you need help, these numbers can prove to be life-saving.
